Learning Objectives
Knowledge acquired:
Basic elements of descriptive statistics;
Basic elements of inferential statistics;
Fundamentals of statistical models for univariate response.
Competence acquired:
Recognizing the nature of variables investigated during the study of a phenomenon; Evaluating critical features characterizing an experiment; Identifying suitable assumptions related to statistical techniques to perform the analysis of experimental results.
Skills acquired (at the end of the course):
1. Summarizing data using plots, tables, and indexes to communicate key features of the investigated phenomenon;
2. Data analysis using the R software;
3. Inferring (using point estimates and confidence intervals) quantities of interest;
4. Performing bivariate analyses;
5. Fitting simple linear models.
